(Lyrics can be found below the video player.)
(We think you will enjoy the song. Our team is trying to secure the licensing rights to sing this song soon at a Live Spotlight (Sunday service).)
Maker of all heav’n and earth,
And in Jesus Christ our Savior,
God’s own Son of matchless worth,
By the Spirit was conceivèd,
Of the virgin Mary born,
He in whom I have believèd,
God almighty, three in one.
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Crucified for me he died,
Laid within the grave so silent,
Gates of hell he opened wide.
For the stone-sealed tomb was empty,
On the third day he arose.
Into heav’n he made his entry,
Mighty conqu’ror of his foes.
At God’s right hand he is seated,
‘Til his coming as he said.
Final judgment will be meted,
To the living and the dead.
I confess the Holy Spirit,
Who was sent through Christ the Son,
To apply salvation’s merit,
God the Spirit, three in one.
I believe the church of Jesus
Universal e’er remains.
We are one through all the ages,
In communion of the saints.
I believe sins are forgiven,
That our bodies will be raised,
To eternal life in glory,
Ever let his name be praised.
I believe sins are forgiven,
That our bodies will be raised,
To eternal life in glory,
Ever let his name be praised.
As we saw on Sunday, Paul the apostle began to bring up the ethnic make-up of the believers to whom he was writing. Paul also is starting to get more autobiographical at the point we're at in his letter to the Colossians. Watch this short video by BibleProject giving an overview of Paul's mission journeys.

Now watch this short snippet from Garrett's preaching on Sunday.
Discuss: What "arena" of your life does this most immediately impact, and how?
Sin is real, but it’s a different thing than you might have thought. Parallel to that, the perfection of Jesus is also real, but it’s a different thing than you might have thought. Often in Christian churches the perfection of Jesus is preached as a truth that can be mechanically applied to our sinfulness. This is true. Yet often in Scripture, the perfection of Jesus conveys the journey that Jesus completed, experiencing what it’s like to follow God in our place.
If sin is really unbelief, then the perfection of Jesus is really … what? Discuss.
(Feel free to disagree or be confused. You’re doing great.)
What lingering questions about this new line of thought do you have? Consider discussing them in your group or reach out to Garrett with your questions.
